The international profile of the teaching staff for the Degree in International Physiotherapy

One of the characteristics common to the lecturers for the Degree in International Physiotherapy, from the School of New Interactive Technologies (Escola de Noves Tecnologies Interactives – ENTI-UB) and the School for Health and Sport (Escola de la Salut i l’Esport – EUSES-UdG) is their international profile. The majority come from prestigious foreign universities; a fact which makes it easy to obtain a more global vision of physiotherapy, from the perspective of different countries all over the world. In the course of these studies, you will learn to implement and design treatments that are put into practice all over Europe and on an international level; with the added value of studying in English, a language that improves and extends your professional horizons.

The teaching staff for this Degree includes lecturers from Australia, the United Kingdom and Germany; all of them specialists in their field, with the double profile of academic-researcher and active professional. They therefore bring their daily experience, which enables them to constantly update the content and methodologies employed. Notably: Claire Knott, an Australian lecturer with extensive professional experience as a physiotherapist in both public and private hospitals.

In this context, we should also mention the lecturer Samuel Young, a graduate in Physiotherapy from the University of Melbourne, specialising in the branch of the locomotor apparatus and sports physiotherapy. He has extensive professional experience, having worked in several regional hospitals in Western Australia; he provided primary care to aboriginal communities in Northern Australia and has also worked as a physiotherapist at several clinics and sports clubs in Melbourne, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Other international profiles include: that of Bertram Müller, a biomechanic by training with extensive international experience in countries such as Scotland and Germany. He is an authentic expert in the combination of Physics, Technology and Medicine. And also, Javier Jerez, with a PhD in public health from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (Natal, Brazil), who contributes an international focus on the tools and methodologies used in physiotherapy in this South American country. Jerez is also Coordinator of the Degree and tutor of the Practicum Clinic I in the 3rd year of the degree.

Lastly, in this course you will also get to know the latest techniques being applied in the field of physiotherapy in the United Kingdom. Thanks to the lecturers Zoe Queally and Lucy Hackney, you will learn systems and procedures applied in the British healthcare scene. It should be noted that Queally is a specialist in spinal column and sports injuries, combining osteopathy, neurokinetic therapy (NKT), the technique of Be-Activated muscular activation, acupuncture, massages and Pilates for treating her patients. She also has extensive experience in various clinics and hospitals in London. In the case of Hackney, who has a degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Leicester, it should be said that she has a wide experience as a physiotherapist in the British public health system and also in the private sphere.

Without a doubt, the international origin of the teaching staff for the Degree in International Physiotherapy ensures a more holistic and universal training, since you will have the opportunity to share knowledge and methodologies from a wide range of countries.  This will not only help you to extend your knowledge, but also aid better job placement in Europe or in the rest of the world.

Train with an expert teaching staff from prestigious international universities; studying the Degree in International Physiotherapy at the Campus of the UB.
