Dra. Anna Salas earned her PhD in Biotechnology in 2018, related with the development of new gene therapy strategies for the treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy. She has been working in the Ophthalmology Research group of the hospital Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona since 2008, not only studying different approaches for the treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy but also for other retinal dystrophies as Retinitis Pigmentosa and Age-Related Macular Degeneration. She has gained expertise in developing in-vitro and animal models for experimental research and has specialized in different ophthalmic techniques as sub-retinal injection, electroretinography and optical coherence tomography. Her research work has contributed to obtaining a patent for an ophthalmic treatment and the publication of six scientific papers in specialized journals.
Since 2018, Dra. Anna Salas has focused her career in the educational field, obtaining a public position in secondary education specialized in Biology and Geology.
