Do you know the eight qualities that are essential for a physiotherapist? Learn how to implement them during the Degree in International Physiotherapy

The purpose of Physiotherapy is to improve the quality of life of people and to aid in the prevention of various pathologies. During the Degree in International Physiotherapy from the School of New Interactive Technologies (Escola de Noves Tecnologies Interactives – ENTI-UB) and the University School of Health and Sport (Escola Universitària de la Salut i l’Esport – EUSES-UdG), you will learn to apply new technologies in the field of health and become familiar with the different aspects of physiotherapy, from assessment and diagnosis, to the design and the development of treatments. However, in addition, in the course of this degree you will also acquire and implement the qualities and skills of a good physiotherapist; such as, for example, these eight that we list below:

  • Dexterity in manual treatments. Despite the rise of new technologies, the work of the physiotherapist still consists, for the most part, in the manual treatment and manipulation of patients’ illnesses. This is why we have to be careful when doing this, in order to avoid harming them. During the Degree in International Physiotherapy you will learn how to combine purely manual treatments with the new e-health tools applied to physiotherapy, adapting them to each patient.
  • Transforming capacity. In their day-to-day work, physiotherapists help people to feel better. During this degree you will learn the most appropriate rehabilitation exercises and guidelines to ensure that patients can overcome neck or back injuries and recover their normal function. This transforming skill is also part of the physiotherapist‘s work.
  • Empathy, tact and delicacy. During this degree you will have the benefit of an expert teaching staff from international universities who are active professionally and who will teach you to put yourself in the patient’s shoes, taking care with the progression and rehabilitation of their pain or physical problems.
  • Responsibility and commitment to the patient. Your goal as a physiotherapist should always be the prevention, recuperation and rehabilitation of the patient. Therefore the curriculum for the Degree in International Physiotherapy gives priority to addressing the ability to provide care to people in the preventive field, and the treatment of injuries and diseases associated with movements, using methodologies adapted to each patient.
  • Transmitting trust. Physiotherapists have a great responsibility. They are responsible for helping patients to recover from their injuries, limitations of mobility or strength, neurological effects, etc. Therefore patients have to feel safe and comfortable. This is why they place their health in the hands of these professionals. During the Degree in International Physiotherapy, you will work closely with real patients by means of practical classes and external work experience.
  • Being used to working as part of a team.  Physiotherapists usually work as part of a team and are used to collaborating with other health professionals. During these studies, you will come to appreciate that it is necessary to maintain a close collaboration with the doctor who has diagnosed your patient and with other professionals who make up the team of which you form a part, in order to restore, improve or maintain the patient’s level of health, depending on the case.
  • Experienced. The reality of working with people who have suffered from a wide range of pathologies, from strokes to COPD, chronic back pain, a boy with cerebral palsy, injuries of elite athletes, post-operative depression…, allows physiotherapists to experience a wide range of cases unlike other health professionals, focused on a specific field. The holistic and transverse training in this Degree, will allow you to deal with every case successfully.
  • The vocation for continuing to learn. Training and learning need to be constant in order to keep abreast of the different techniques and new developments that may arise in this sector. In this sense, the Degree in International Physiotherapy degree fosters your additional training through workshops, courses and seminars, taught by experts in the field of health.

Many of the qualities of a future physiotherapist are practically innate; but with the Degree in International Physiotherapy, you will learn to develop and implement them successfully.
