Carme Santoyo
Teacher
Degree in Physical Therapy, Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and Master’s Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy, in Brief Strategic Therapy, and in Research in Clinical Medicine.
She has worked as a physical therapist and coordinator of the physiotherapy department at Hospital de Dia de la Fundació Esclerosi Múltiple (FEM) in Barcelona; since 2012 she works in the Neurorehabilitation Unit of the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Catalonia (Cemcat), a clinical, research and docent center located at the Hospital Universitario Vall d’Hebron Hospital (1995-present).
From October 2018, she is chair of the Special Interest Group in Mobility of the European Network for Best Practice and Research in Rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis (RIMS), organizing two international events every year (www.eurims.org/SIG-Mobility)
In the education field, she has experience as a lecturer:
- International Degree in Physiotherapy at Escola Universitària de Salut I Esport (EUSES), Universitat de Girona, Barcelona, Spain (September 2017- present).
- Degree in Physiotherapy at Facultat de Ciències de la Salut Blanquerna, Universitat Ramon Llull, Barcelona, Spain (1998-2014).
- Master’s degree in Neurological Physiotherapy, Facultat Ciències de la Salut Blanquerna, Universitat Ramon Llull, Barcelona. Coordinator, scientific assessor, and lecturer. (2000-2004; 2008-2014).
She is the principal investigator of the following on going projects:
- Effect of Nordic Walking training in walking parameters and quality of life of people with Multiple sclerosis (MS).
- Frequency and determinants of physical activity level in people with MS.
- Effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the physical activity level of people with MS and physiotherapists clinical practice.
